‘The Ephemerality of a Hollow Space’ 2018

Porcelain, Glaze

Playing with composition and fragmentary vessels, ‘The Ephemerality of a Hollow Space’ documents the exploration and function of a plaster mould in ceramic slip-casting processes. In the archiving of configuration, the objects are formed from plaster segments that dictate the form of the tableware. Bottles become tumblers while height variations fluctuate, their silhouette welcoming the seamlines in which they were created.

Challenging the single function of a mould, this body of work adapts traditional techniques to create multiples, where not one vessel is identical. The set welcomes a playful nature in its making, telling a story of its history in texture and porcelain.
