 ‘Fabric Cast’ (Part One)

Fabric Cast’ (Part One), 2019

Porcelain, Electric Fired

Exploring alternate casting mediums, ‘Fabric Cast’ (Part One) derived from the desire to remove plaster in the slip casting process due to the abundance a practitioner can accumulate over time without the opportunity to reclaim, as it is left for waste.

By the process of repetition and fluidity of liquid, fabric, and slip, no two vessels are alike. Seam lines, folding, and puckering depict the flow of each form, reading beyond a ceramic body.

With the process becoming a stimulant of form, each movement influences its output. The beauty in the fluency of clay in relation to its fabric companion, the duo creates details that are depicted by the moulds assembly, casting flow, and deconstruction.
