2nd January – 13th February 2020
While undertaking the Project Network residency at Guldagergaard Ceramic Center, in Denmark, ‘havn’ was created as a representation of the inspiring qualities found in the coastal landscapes found on the doorstep in Slagelse.
Weathering buoys, saltwater erosion, drifting tarpauling, and an abundance of knotted netting directed the textural qualities found in the casting and firing of the objects. Continuing the artist’s process of fabric casting, ‘havn’ uses fluidity to embody both wind and tide, while paying homage to the learnt skills during her stay. An exploration of soda and wood firing, celebrate the communal evenings stoking the kilns, while fusing elements rooted in the objects discourse within its surface.
